1980
Getting Started
Don Fogel joined Basic Metals as its first employee, working with a single slitter and operator. It was a small start, but it set the tone: work hard, stay reliable, and put customers first.
1985
New Ownership, Bigger Vision
Don and his brother Todd purchased the company and quickly expanded by adding a larger facility, building mill relationships, and earning new customers who valued dependable supply and service.
1986–1998
Building Momentum
The late ’80s and ’90s brought steady growth. More equipment, more capabilities, and more customers helped shape Basic’s reputation as a responsive, trustworthy metals partner.
1999–2010
Bigger Footprint. Higher Standards.
Todd stepped into leadership and later brought on his son, Andy. Together, they added new facilities, introduced fiber laser processing, and achieved ISO 9001:2015 certification, bringing new opportunities while holding to the same core values.
